The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and although there are a couple tiny chips in the nut between the E and A strings as well as the B and high E, the strings sit firmly in their slots and the factory nut works exactly as it should. The fretboard has pearl dot inlay with a "snowflake" inlay at the 12th fret. The neck has 14 frets clear of the body and 20 frets total, with the fretwire showing only a hint of wear beneath the plain strings down in the "cowboy chord" area near the nut, with virtually no wear up the neck and well rounded fret crowns.

The neck has a medium C shaped profile that borders on the slimmer side of things, with a thick slab rosewood fretboard and vintage style fretwire that's in fantastic shape.

Professionally setup and freshly restrung with 12-53 phosphor bronze strings, this Alvarez has comfortable action and is ready for stage and studio work. This dreadnought projects like few can, with a glassy tone that takes full advantage of the tried and true combination of a solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides. Crafted in Japan to very exacting standards, this Yairi has an extremely powerful and articulate sound. Up for sale, a 1988 Alvarez Yairi DY52 "Canyon Creek" dreadnought acoustic guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order.
